TL;DR for engineers: We collect minimal data (just what's needed for authentication and your learning progress). Google Calendar access is optional and read-only (we import your interview dates to personalize your learning plan, never modify your calendar). We don't sell your data. Period. Anonymous usage stats help us improve the platform. Your payment info goes directly to our payment processor, we never see it.

What We Collect

Authentication Data

  • Name

Google Calendar Data (Optional)

  • Calendar event read access (read-only)
  • Import your interview dates to personalize your learning plan

Note: We only request permission to read calendar events. We cannot create, modify, or delete your calendar events. This permission is optional and helps us create a personalized learning plan based on your upcoming interviews.

Learning Progress Data

  • Cards you've studied
  • Your confidence ratings
  • Review schedules
  • Daily usage metrics

Membership Data

  • Membership type (6 Months/1 Year/Lifetime/Free)
  • Membership status and dates
  • Payment transaction ID (no payment details)

Note: Payment processing is handled entirely by our payment processor. We never see or store your credit card information, billing address, or any payment details.

Age Requirements

System Overflow is intended for users who are at least 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete such information.

What We DON'T Do

  • ❌ We don't track you across other websites
  • ❌ We don't send promotional emails (unless you explicitly opt in)

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide the service: Your learning progress is stored so you can pick up where you left off
  • To manage your account: Authentication and membership status
  • To improve the platform: Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics help us understand which features are valuable and what needs improvement
  • To comply with legal obligations: We may need to retain certain data for legal/financial record-keeping

Third-Party Services

Authentication Service

We use Google's authentication service for secure sign-in. Google's privacy policy applies to the authentication process. We only receive the basic profile information you approve.

Google Calendar Integration

We request Google Calendar permission to import your interview dates and create a personalized learning plan. This is completely optional.

  • What we can do: Read your calendar events to identify upcoming interviews
  • What we cannot do: Create, modify, or delete your calendar events
  • How to revoke: You can revoke this permission anytime at myaccount.google.com/permissions

Google's privacy policy applies to calendar data. We only use this permission to tailor your study plan around your interview schedule.

Payment Processor

All payment processing is handled by a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. They handle all payment data securely. We only receive confirmation of your membership status, never your payment details.

Anonymous Analytics

We may share anonymous, aggregated usage data with analytics services to improve site performance and user experience. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.

Data Storage & Security

  • We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information
  • All connections use HTTPS encryption
  • We retain your data as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.

Your Rights

Delete Your Data

We respect your right to control your personal data. If you wish to permanently delete your account and all associated data, you can request deletion through either of the following methods:

Option 1: Email Request

Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" from the email address associated with your account.

Option 2: Contact Form

Submit a deletion request through our contact form. Please include "Account Deletion Request" in your message and use the email address associated with your account.

Processing Time: Your account and all associated data (including learning progress, diagrams, and personal information) will be permanently deleted within 7 working days of receiving your request. This action is irreversible.

Note: We may retain minimal transaction records (payment ID, date, amount) as required by applicable tax and financial regulations. This data cannot be used to identify your learning activity.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for:

  • Session management (keeping you logged in)
  • Authentication and security

We don't use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes by email or through a notice on the platform. Continued use of System Overflow after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
